This morning is quiet, the animals are still sleeping and so are the inhabitants. A light rain continues to soften the colors offered in nature, as I enjoy my second cup of coffee with time to reflect on our journey.
In between leaving Burns and arriving at Billings Montana with a long ribbon of blacktop between us and our destination. We entertained the idea of stopping to sleep along the way, but by the time we had decided we might be ready, there were only more miles of darkness to cover before we reached our target point and signs that warned us of Crossing bison and possible bears in the neighborhood. We decided to continue driving.
Of Michelle's favorite things the mountains are Important, but the trees that cover vast portions of Montana were draped in indistinguishable shadow. The road we were on was likely some of the most beautiful terrain we would see on our journey , if we could see it, but the darkness pervaded on an almost solitude road for a long time.
Like most things offered to us in life, contrast provides us with an appreciation of something else. Our night of long driving was rewarded with a bright sunrise, and time to enjoy the various animals that paraded through the parking lot of the hotel that we were staying in. For a little while, there was nothing more important than the moment we were in.
